The Westbury White Horse

This horse dates from 1778 when it was remodelled over the top of a much more ancient creature which had a crescent moon on the end of a long, thin tail and faced in the opposite direction. Legend has it that it was made in AD 878 to celebrate one of King Alfred's battle victories.

If I have the time I will try and dig out some more information on these horses and include it here at a later date.
